Serani’s Top 5 Breakthrough Tunes

“No Games” Singer Picks Landmark Reggae Records For VIBE.com

With smash hits like “No Games” and “She Loves Me,” Jamaican producer/vocalist Serani has a gift for taking raw uncut dancehall to the pop charts. With his debut album No Games about to drop October 27 on Phase One Records, the new & improved VIBE.com asked him to pick 5 of his favorite hardcore reggae cuts that broke through outernationally, paving the way for him to climb the ladder of success.

5. Chaka Demus & Pliers “Murder She Wrote”

That’s one of my favorite beats of all time. Big up to Sly & Robbie. That song still plays to this day and it’s all over movie soundtracks.

4. Wayne Wonder “No Letting Go”

Yo, that’s just one very very very good song. It’s flawless. It’s got a lot of emotions. Just a big tune.

3. Devonte & Tanto Metro “Everyone Falls In Love”

This song went straight out of the dancehall to the pop charts. It’s so sweet with a nice hardcore dancehall beat.

2. Sean Paul “We Be Burning”

I co-produced that one. We didn’t have anything special in mind. We were just trying to make some banging music. We made the beat, Sean Paul jumped on it, and the rest is history.

1. Inner Circle “Bad Boys”

“What ya gonna do when they come for you?” That song and the TV show made each other hot. And remember that was in the movie with Martin Lawrence and Will Smith too. Trust me—Inner Circle ate nuff food off that tune.
