Like it or Love it, Chronixx Keeps His Culture In New Visuals
Chronixx carries us on a journey through music in the video “Likes” from his forthcoming debut album Chronology. Directed by Joachim Maquet (@alleyesonit), the video was shot in London on the UK portion of his fore-running Chronology tour. Known for his intimiate performances and high-quality visuals, this video also features scenes from the sold-out Brixton Academy show. The upcoming U.S. tour with Nas and Lauryn Hill this Fall will not be one to disappoint! Video after the jump…

Jamaica’s keystone musician Chronixx drops visuals for “Likes” days before the debut of Chronology. The self-produced single, released early 2017, is a free-flowing and up beat track burning up dancehall’s across the world due to its contemporary style, relatable lyrics and infectious hook.

Success doesn’t come overnight, let dem know substance over hype.
Do it for the love, we don’t do it for the likes.
Do it for the love, we don’t do it for the likes.

For the Love Not the Hype
As the son of Dancehall veteran Chronicle, Chronixx pays homage to the Fathers of Dancehall and gives his take on the happenings in Jamaica and the explosion of social media. He credits Rihanna and Drake for dancehall chart-toppers, “Work” and “Controlla”, while still honoring the Greats like King Jammy, Digital B, and Sly & Robbie for their contributions to Reggae, Dancehall, and Hip-Hop music.

Give Credit Where Credit Is Due
Since releasing EP “Dread & Terrible” in April 2014, the rising star out of Spanish Town has kept fans hungry for more music. Songs like ‘Sell My Gun’, ‘Out Deh’, and ‘Queen Majesty’ extended his reach out of the Caribbean and into the International market. Collaborations with Protoje, Kelissa, and Jah 9 solidified him as a leader of new roots reggae. As a musician and producer, Chronixx continues to discover new ways of presenting classic dancehall-reggae to a mainstream audience. Unrestrained in his idea of music, Chronixx creates with cross-over names like Joey Badass and Shaggy. His agility as an artist is clear through his love for instrumentation, quality presentation and creative direction in his branding. Very humble and modest, this legend gives credit to his extensive team of managers, producers, and fans for his rapid rise in music.

Performances
Fans of Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show will have heard a slice of the song when Chronixx performed in February. He also performed the song in full during his UK TV debut on the respected Later with Jools Holland season 8 finale. Other performers included The xx, Maren Morris, Haim, Trombone Shorty and Royal Blood.

Chronixx returns to the US in July for a handful of shows. These include a free gig at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park before heading to Japan’s Fuji Rock and an extensive European tour.
