Was Di Steam Ministah Misrepresented On Noisey Jamaica?

“I will never dignify untrue and twisted publications made by a media who only seek to create headlines which drag artistes and their supporters through the valley of disunity and division,” said Chronixx in a new Instagram post. “It is all a part of the overall effort to divide our music, divert our creative focus and incarcerate the legends of our music- ‘To divide and rule is their only plan,’ he continued, quoting Sizzla Kalonji and Jah Cure. ‘I a nuh fool.'” The post was apparent response to media reports that Chronixx compared Kartel to a “cannibal” in a recent TV program called Noisey Jamaica. “Vybz Kartel himself has done a lot of good things in life, I must say,” Chronixx was quoted as saying in the program, which aired on the new network VICELand. “Gangsterism, cannibalism… because Vybz Kartel over time became a cannibal. When you listen to his music it is very cannibalistic.” Chronixx took to IG to clarify his remarks and to castigate “ignorant bloggers” and media outlets that sow discord rather than overstanding. Full Statement After The Jump…

Although he is often portrayed as part of a “roots revivial” Chronixx has always made it clear that he is a major dancehall fan—as he demonstrates on his recent Roots & Chalice mixtape. While his 2013 hit “Odd Ras” did mention skin bleaching and saggy jeans, Chronixx has never openly dissed Kartel, and listening carefully to the VICELand interview it does seem possible that the spirit of his remarks may have been taken out of context. In his latest Instagram statement he bigs up Kartel to the fullest for his contributions to Jamaican music and culture—calling him a “fearless creative soul in this earth.” No word yet from the World Boss.

Let me title this one..”weh yuh know bout pressure” I will never dignify untrue and twisted publications made by a media who only seek to create headlines which drag artistes and their supporters through the valley of disunity and division. It is all a part of the overall effort to divide our music, divert our creative focus and incarcerate the legends of our music- “to divide and rule is their only plan…I a nuh fool”. We (chronixx, vybz kartel) will Never dignify the statements made by these individuals of no culture…instead I will continue to make good projects as I patiently wait to see the silver lining behind this dark precipitation of ignorant bloggers and so called “gaza” fans. Now for all the true supporters of Vybz Kartel as a true talent…you have all the right in the world. Put every other elements aside, Vybz Kartel as a student of this music and our culture is an undeniable and exceptional talent who has proven himself to be a fearless creative soul in this earth. Then…for the ones who are quick to believe and react out of ignorance to the lies of these puppets who have only revealed themselves to be a disgrace to true journalism, may the peace that passeth all overstanding be with you and yours. – Chronixx 📷 by the living god @chekothari
