HEAR THIS: Jahdan Blakkamoore ft. Lady Leshurr & Melodic Yoza “Ting Tun Up”
BK General Links w one UK Bad Gyal and one Canadian Soul Rebel and EveryTING Tun Up—Loud
It’s been a long, slow climg for Guyana-born Brooklyn-raised Jahdan Blakkamoore, but at last he finds himself perfectly positioned between authenticity of voice and freshness of perspective. Here Mr. B blesses us with the first joint off his forthcoming album Order of Distinction, featuring a guest appearances from Birmingham’s own Lady Leshurr. Toronto’s Melodic Yoza collabs on this relentlessly rocking club banger. Produced by Paper Stars, the production and writing duo Blakkamoore built with Andrew Moon Bain (of Lustre Kings fame). HEAR THIS: Jah Cure “Life We Live”
“Natural Mystic Is In The Air, Bob Marley Said Have No Fear, Everything Is Gonna Be Alright”
Every so often Jah Cure blesses us with one of those anthems—a song so good that it’s basically guaranteed to play from now until Kingdom Come. Today must be one of those days, because we just can’t stop running this tune. It’s the kind of song that grabs you from the first line and never lets go. The track, a dubby, dreamy yet crispy take on “Heaveneless,” was produced by ‘Sketch’ Carey for Iyacure Productions. This is the first single from an upcoming album that’s supposed to be released later this year, but if this song’s any indication we need that album like right now. Cure mentions Bob’s name in his lyrics, which would be ill-advised for your average reggae singer. But Cure is anything but average, and he’s in rare form on “Life We Live.” So light up another one and let the music play. Have no fear. This is the life the life the life we live. HEAR THIS: I-Octane “Jah Jah Warrior” PREMIERE
Brand New Exclusive Preview Of The My Journey Album
I-Octane has described his forthcoming album My Journey as an evolution towards a more rootical approach to the music. The dreadlocked dancehall singjay’s music has always exercised a certain level of consciousness in terms of lyrical content and sheer songwriting ability, the rhythm tracks and production favored a digital dancehall style over traditional live drum and bass reggae tracks. On this exclusive pre-release Octane brandishes his lyrical sword atop a warm and easy DJ Frass production that bridges the gap between new and classic. If this is any indication My Journey—which will be released Tuesday on independent Reggae imprint, Tads Records—is a journey we can’t wait to begin. The Journey of Jah Bouks
When Something Is Meant To Be… It Will BeHumble, determined, talented and focused, that’s Jah Bouks. I smile as I think about the journey the singer has been on. A journey which began since he was a mere twelve years old. Before he was even conceived, his father had already decided, after watching a karate flick, that he liked the name of the character, Suzuki. He vowed that when he had a son, he would be called Bouki. Determined to make a difference in the world through music, Jah Bouks, with the never-ending support of his mom, who is also his manager, never strayed from his chosen path. There were many challenges and disappointments along the way, but through it all, Jah Bouks never gave in. He pursued his career doggedly. He never stopped writing, recording and performing, as he knew that his time would eventually come. Journey Continues After The Jump… (more…) -
