HEAR THIS: Jah Cure “Lion In The Jungle”

HEAR THIS: Jah Cure "Lion In The Jungle"

New Music From Reggae’s High Priest

Jah Cure has been hypnotizing the soul of all who have listened to his universal healing voice, through putting out boatloads of romantic cuts and testimonials of inner city struggles, all done in his signature rasp. His records have shattered the global airwaves, and as he’d put it, “his only remaining goal for the rest of his life is to spread love and to promote peace and healing, universally through his music”  But what makes this new song particularly stand out from previous works is how commanding and strong it is. In some ways, it plays like the aural equivalent of a chest pound. Listening to the song, his authority yet humble duality sticks out and sees Cure making some strong claims, but finding comfort within the reverence of His Majesty as “the Lion in the jungle.” The shackles that defined his early career, with noted multiple run-ins with the law, sort of represented the themes his music was confined to. This is his new liberation, and its not just taking place in the music; it’s in his life as well. This new side of Jah Cure’s material will only fuel his new music overall vibe. Cure again! Mr. One Drop Chops It Up With Reshma B

Live from Kingston, Jamaica, direct from the river side in Caymanas Park, dancehall star QQ chops it up with the ReggaeGirlAboutTown before jumping in the water and wetting up the place himself. The not-quite-20-year-old artist who brought us “One Drop” in 2013 talks about his latest smash, “Mosquito Net”—and gives Reshma B a quick lesson in how to do the dance (as well as a crash course in how young dancehall stars deal with the ladies). QQ also shares some of his plans for 2014—including a “major” 20th birthday party, and more work with his charitable foundation to uplift underprivileged and disabled children. He even previews his latest release, “Dutty Heart,” a special request to all the haters. Video After The Jump…

New Dance For De Gyal Dem
Back in 2005 a 10-year-old child star named QQ came out with a smash hit called “Better Must Come” on the Calibud label. The fresh-faced youth singing conscious tunes was a winning combination. Well QQ’s all grown up now, and he’s coming with the skin-out selections like “Ghetto Gal.” Can’t be mad at a young man just because the ladies deh pon him mind. It’s only natural. Now QQ and his bredren Venemous have linked with Stashment productions to bring us one of those “new dance fe de gyal dem” type of tunes, and you know the visuals are outrageous. But don’t take our word for it—see for yourself. Video After The Jump… Read more »
