The House of Marley Presents:
Boomshots Unplugged Inna Style & Fashion

Sister Carol, Screechy Dan, DJ Norie, Reshma B Chains, & Rockers NYC Take Over Negril Village

Spring has sprung, and there’s definitely something in the air. Is that the essence of ishens? Yep, must be 4/20. One week from today, the Boomshots posse will be taking over NYC’s original Jamaican restaurant, Negril Village, for an historic event: the first ever staging of our quarterly after-work get-together, a thing called Boomshots Unplugged inna Style & Fashion. Come shake off the winter blues with a live acoustic performance by BK foundation DJ Sister Carol alongside the man called Screechy Dan as you’ve never heard them before. Shock out with DJ Norie and BBC Hi-Fi. Admission? Buy out the bar. Powered by The House of Marley. Way Up & Stay Up. Details After The Jump…

If you don’t know Sister Carol (aka Mother Culture aka Black Cinderella aka Empress High Grade) you better ask somebody. The founding mother of Brooklyn’s dancehall scene, her yard  Eastman Sound was the spot where every dancehall dignitary visiting BK used to sharpen their skills in the days before Don One Dub Studio. Sister Carol went on to appear in Jonathan Demme’s hit film Something Wild and even had the chance to shock out on the David Letterman show. Her Black Cinderalla album for Jah Life is considered a classic, and her “Show Business” single on the Serious Gold label is a #CertifiedBoomshot.

If you love that, then make sure to check our her new album Live No Evil. Sister Carol will be performing a once-in-a-lifetime live acoustic set with special guest, Brooklyn dancehall O.G. Screechy Dan. You know his hits like “Pose Off” and sound killers like “My Sound Stands Alone,” but if you never heard him shocking out on foundation BK sounds like Firgo Digital and Mini Mart, then you don’t know the half. Expect the unexpected anytime Screechy Dan is in the building. (And don’t be suprised if a couple more suprise guests pass through. You know how we do!)

Juggling will be handled by the big bad BBC Hi Fi with selectors Seeborn & Charlie Brown flinging down smokers’ anthems and exclusive dubplates. We’ll also be honoring DJ Norie of Power 105.1 FM who bagged the latest Global Spin Award for Best Reggae DJ. (Big up everybody who remembers Norie on Wah Gwan Radio back in the day.)

Our peoples Reshma B Chains and Rockers NYC will be in the area to keep you laced in the dopest gear. (See gallery above.) Browse their wares as you sample the authentic Jamaican cuisine of Negril Village and hold a joy in their spacious downstairs lounge. It’s considerably bigger than that other place where we used to rock, but you’d best believe it’s gonna be ram in every crevice and corner. Especially when The House of Marley is in the place.
