The man who brought you “Rampin Shop,” Adidja ‘Vybz Kartel’ Palmer, will star in a brand new reality series dubbed Teacha’s Pet, premiering on Jamaica’s CVM TV at 10pm, Pay Per View at 10:30pm and on LIME TV at 11pm this Friday, September 23rd. Teacha’s Pet is a reality TV dating show surrounding the love life and career of Vybz Kartel, shot at a palatial residence in upper St. Andrew. Produced by Carleene Samuels and directed by Jason ‘Jay Will’ Williams of Creative Source Productions, the programme features a cast of 20 female contestants who live together and complete daily challenges as they try to win the love of Vybz Kartel. According to Samuels, Teacha’s Pet is unlike any other programme produced locally. “We are positive that this top quality production will attract high viewership particularly among the artistes’ huge fan base across the globe”, she says. Judge for yourself after the jump…

When producers issued a casting call online for Kartel’s ‘love hopefuls’, over 1000 applications were submitted quickly from young women both locally and internationally. Kartel and show producers hand-picked the finalists who will appear on the show. Other Jamaican celebrities—including Amelia ‘Milk’ Sewell as the substitute teacher, and recording artiste ‘Popcaan’ as the confidant—will be featured weekly in the hour-long programme.

Sponsored in part by LIME and Red Stripe BOLD, both brands were pleased to work with Vybz Kartel and the Creative Source team. LIME representative Tara Playfair-Scott is confident that the show will boost the success of LIME TV, stating, “Teacha’s Pet is the perfect example of unique, entertaining and most importantly, 100% Jamaican programming that will drive the success of our mobile TV network.”

A member of the Red Stripe BOLD team said “Teacha’s Pet is an exciting new reality show that we know Red Stripe Bold consumers will enjoy. Like the brand, the TV show represents fun and unconventional entertainment.” Members of the Diaspora and Vybz Kartel fans globally will be able to access the programme online via a pay-per-view service at www.teachaspet.com.

The show’s Facebook and Twitter presence will also allow fans to share feedback and comment online. Amongst Jamaica’s leading international celebrities, Vybz Kartel notes that the experience has been a rewarding one – “This is yet another first in dancehall history. I have always had an interest in pursuing film-based projects along with my music. I am very pleased with the production and I look forward to the response of my fans and the viewers who will tune in every Friday night”.
