“Hands In The Air! Rags In The Air!” UPDATE

“My name is Fay-Ann Lyons” …. Memba dat.

Double congratulations to the Road March Queen and expecting mother.

If you thought mama-to-be M.I.A. set the standard for pregnant swagger at this year’s Grammys, check out Fay-Ann Lyons’ nice round belly as she mashes up the 2009 Soca Monarch Finals. Just to seal the deal, she brings out her father, the legendary Super Blue, and her baby even sings the tune from the womb!

Ash Wednesday news flash: A rumor circulated that the baby was born today, the same day as Fay-Ann was awarded her third straight Road March title in Trinidad & Tobago for the song livicated to her pops.

Not true, according to Mama Lyons and her husband, the Fire Man of soca Bunji Garlin. “I am really elated over the three victories,” she told Trinidad’s Daily Express, “and very thankful to God for how everything turned out.”

As you listen, try to imagine 5000 rum-soaked scantily clad revellers wilding out in the streets of Port of Spain to this one. Run the chune and get on bad:

“Been hearing them lately

She don’t act like a lady

Make no apology

So who don’t like me could bite me!”

Tell ’em Fay-Ann!
